Played for a GroundUP event on March 27, 2009 @ the Abbey
“If you haven’t seen this band live, then you haven’t fully experienced a brand of rock and blues mixed together like that of Greensugar.” With dueling percussionists, great guitar play and smooth vocals, Greensugar brings blues and rock to a whole new plateau. Greensugar has it all, a very gracious-powerful lead singer, a very smooth bassist and 2-great guitar players, the attention on detail is shown in their experience together. But then lies the under card, the hidden gem, Greensugar brings all the funk with baselines set up by not one, but two drummers. To understand the art behind having two drummers is very complicated, as most music lovers know, the drummer lays down the rhythm and pace, so imagine having two drummers playing simultaneously. Not only do the come flawlessly, but they dominate the show sometimes going back and forth. All around, Greensugar has quickly risen on my list of bands to see live in 2009; with an explosive live show and great blues style of rock.
