Just a quick update on what’s goin on…

We playin out in Lincolnshire this Saturday at the CUBBY BEAR NORTH starting at 9:30pm!! Lincolnshire is where Patrick and Parker went to High School and so there should be a good size crew of old friends and family on hand to check the band out…PLUS Cubby NORTH has an amazing sound system so it should be a rockin time!!

Also the band wishes to thank all of you for comin out so big at our Double Door show last Friday!!  It was our first time headlining the famed rock club and from experience we can definitely say it’s the only way to go!! Anyhow the show was recorded and within the next few weeks tracks should start popping up on the web so keep checkin in as they’ll be posted here first!!

Friday night the 30^th we’re back in the city for the first time since the HOUSE OF BLUES with a headlining gig at the Legendary Double Door!!  The show starts at 8:30pm and we hit at 11pm sharp so be sure to be in the building by then as I heard standing on Milwaukee Ave. during our gig can result in having your face melted off by the humidity!  Tickets are 5 bucks…nice and cheap…and better yet you get a full 75 minute set where we get to jam out a bit, play a ton of new music for you guys and more importantly be a part of the LIVE RECORD we’ll recording during the set!! We got tix so hit us up between now and then to save a few bucks at the door!!

Finally the GreenSugar family wishes to extend a sincere thanks to our boy Erick Froseth…yes our former second drummer…for sitting in with us over the weekend while Pat finished up his recovery from some casual mid summer surgery!! Erick has been playing gigs around the city lately with good friends of ours JACKPOT DONNIE and he kindly came back to us for the weekend so we could play the gig down at Sugar Creek.  He did an amazing job and held down the thunder like a true pro and for that we’re all eternally grateful…thanks man…

You can see Erick jamming with Jackpot when they share the bill with us @ CUBBY BEAR NORTH on August 7^th and as we’ll be setting up the stage with both kits you can be sure some of the old two drum fireworks will be on display so mark it on your Calendar!!

So that’s the word from the Sugar for the moment!!  Keep in mind every Thursday good friends of ours THE ARTESIAN HASH HOUNDS are jamming at The TOASTED OX on Lincoln Blvd and we’ll be hangin out over there lookin to sit in on a jam or two so if you boppin around Lincoln Park come by and say hi!!

Just a quick reminder that we’re jamming THIS THURSDAY at 5:30pm at the Millennium Park Grill  as a part of WTMX’s 101.9fm  PARTY IN THE PARK!! The weather is supposed to be awesome and we’re psyched to play outside so PLEASE come out and join us after you get off work!!

FRIDAY we’re headed down to West Lafayette, IN for our Monthly Ho-Down @ HUNTERS PUB DOWN UNDER and we’ll be jamming and gritting INDOORS from 11:30pm til close so if you’re free load up on smokes and head on down with us…

SATURDAY we’re up in KALAMAZOO, MI at the Corner Pub where we’ll be jamming with our boys ROOT HOG throughout the evening so if you thirsty for an OBERON….JOIN US!!!

THANKS AGAIN to everyone who came out and made the HOUSE OF BLUES such a special night!! It was a tremendous success and the start of a great relationship with Live Nation so keep your eyes peeled for us to announce a fall date over there shortly!!

Finally, for those of you who haven’t heard of the ARTESIAN HASH HOUNDS listen up!  It’s quite simply an alter ego we like/need to play under in and around the city so that we can continue to do our thing while not pissing off the powers that be concerning our upcoming schedule!  It’s usually more toned down and bluesy as the clubs we’ll be playing in are more intimate, but still just as raw and nasty so…JOIN US!!

In other news, we’re jammin down on the south side at Chucks VooDoo Lounge on Sat. May 22nd from nine til one if you wanna come down and eat some MEAN BBQ and rock out. This’ll be the last ANNOUNCED show before HOB so if you need one more fix before June…this is it!!

Just a reminder that EVERYONE IS WELCOME at our party this Saturday at 3238 N. Sheffiled starting at 3pm!!  We’re buying kegs and BBQ supplies and hoping that you’ll come by and and hang with us, as we’re always working/promoting at our shows and so we never get the chance to ACTUALLY HANG OUT/PARTY with you!!  This will be our last free weekend til July so if you wanna come by and hang out and just shoot the shit as opposed to, “Hey!! Good to see you!!  Thanks for coming out!! Give me one sec and I’ll swing over and we’ll chat…” blah blah blah…

Welcome to another spring of GreenSugar baseball!!  You’ll be pleased to know that we’ve improved our team, signed free agents, lost weight, and picked up a mean steroid habit…so gear up for a career summer…

We’re kicking off our Spring tomorrow at Mahoneys (551 W. Ogden) at 9pm and in honor of the approaching summer we’re rewarding our faithful with free booze!!  From 8 to 9pm anyone who comes in to the club and mentions GREENSUGAR get an hour of free well cocktails and domestic drafts!! We’ll be jamming for a few hours and testing out the new sound system in the club so come by and say hello…and have 6 on us!

Friday we’re heading down to Lafayette to boogie down at the best Lil’ bar in IN and if you can handle stiff drinks and…that’s right…INDOOR smoking…you should join us at HUNTER’S (302 Ferry Street, Lafayette, IN 47901) for our monthly midnight gig.

Saturday we’re back in IL on the South Side for our first show at CHUCKS VOODOO LOUNGE (6501 W 79th St., Burbank, IL 60459) and we’ll be having a special guest appearance by Jason Segal sitting in on bass for the first hour while Jason arrives from a cow tipping adventure in Dekalb! We start @ 9pm and go all night so if you live in that neck of the woods then please come out and Join us!!

Further down the road this month we’re down in Pevely, MO for Outrageous Productions’ Cirque Du Erotica at the TBC VENUE…danger…danger…, and we finish out the month out in Columbus, OH at SCARLETT & GRAY (2203 N High St., Columbus, OH  43201) reminding all the college kids that if they practice really, really hard and give up their souls they can one day come back years later and play for other youngsters who still have their hopes and dreams in front of them….should be fun!!

We’ve recently asked you to vote once a day for GreenSugar so that we can play at the CrossRoads festival this summer.  I know some of you had some issues with the website so we thought we would give you some simple steps to help.  PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE follow these steps, pass along to friends and repeat daily to help!!  We don’t need to explain to anyone how major CrossRoads is so help make it happen!!  Please follow the following steps to register to vote:

1.       Go to www.playcrossroads.com

2.      Click on the tab all the way to the right of the page that says “Register”

3.      Click the circle that says “this is FAN account”; fill in all the required info and click register.

4.      Once you are registered, at the top of the website there is a white search bar in the upper right hand corner.  Type in GreenSugar.

5.      You will be redirected to a page where you will be able to click on GreenSugar, click on GreenSugar.

6.      Scroll down to about mid page on the GreenSugar page and click vote for this band.    Now that you have registered and voted you will be able to vote for GreenSugar once a day until the end of the contest.  Simply go to www.playcrossroads.com, log in, type GreenSugar in the white search bar at the top of the page, click on GreenSugar, and vote!

Finally, we’re back @ Reggie’s Rock Room Weds night for a fundraiser for George Jovanes (local music guy who’s seen it all over the course of 35 plus years in the business suffered a Stroke) and Sat. we’re in Kenosha for A local music showcase at the Brat Stop!  And there’s a rumor about a GS sighting in St. Charles on Fri…stay tuned…

We’ll be keeping everyone posted as to new dates as they are confirmed. As of yesterday we’ve confirmed dates in Pevely, MO for April 24th at the TBC Venue for the “Cirque Du Erotica” presented by Outrageous productions, and September 11th @ The Famed Bottleneck in Lawrence, KS!!

Keep an eye on us as we’ll be comin to a town near you this summer!!!

We’re chillin this weekend due to the Swede’s poor planning BUT that doesn’t mean we’re not gonna be out spreadin the Sugar!! Come to Wrigleyville on Saturday and play pin the tail on the Dartz and whomever wins gets a free bar tab at our show @ Double Door on Weds. March 31st!!! We play @ 9:45pm that night by the way so no excuses for you 9 to fivers…

In other news we’re spending the ACTUAL St. Patrick’s Day at Crowne Point’s R’ HOUSE OF BREWS in Kong’s home town for an Irish affair that starts at 9pm and ends when everyone can no longer fill their cup…should be Rich…and later this month we’re making our almost monthly run (these days) up to THE BRAT STOP on the 27th for fatty sausages and brew, and again we’ll finish the month @ the famed DOUBLE DOOR for good times and crime…
